Services in and around Burnley
Ageing Well Resource Centre
With a focus on healthy living and active ageing, our Ageing Well Resource Centre at 21 Daneshouse Road, Burnley is based in the heart of the ethnic minority community and provides a drop-in facility for information and advice. The Centre also provides activities for both male and female older Asian-heritage people and their carers.
Community Leisure, Social & Physical Activities
A variety of activities are offered throughout the Burnley area to help older people remain active and to promote health and wellbeing.
Our volunteers offer short term support to help older people aged over 65 find support in their local community. We help them to become involved with activities provided by groups and give practical support where necessary.
Day Care Services
We offer a service for older people who need support in order to remain living independently. Our services are based on individual needs and may be subject to an assessment by Lancashire County Council. Private fee places are available upon request.
The Eastern Lives Project promotes the health and wellbeing of Asian-heritage older people by organising physical activities, healthy eating sessions and community health groups across East Lancashire.
End of Life Support
We can help terminally ill people and their families make positive, informed choices about end of life care.
Health Trainers are specially trained to support people to make small changes in their lifestyles that can have big impacts on their health and wellbeing. Trainers work on a one-to-one basis to develop a personal health plan.
Home Help Service
The Home Help Service is available to anyone who is aged 50 and over or living with a disability. Home Helps are able to carry out a variety of tasks dependent on your
needs including general cleaning, laundry, shopping and local errands. The service offers
flexibility and choice, high standards and is competitively priced.
Hospital Aftercare Service
Our team of staff offer practical support in the home following discharge from a hospital ward
or Accident & Emergency Department. People must be aged 60 or above and find it difficult
to resume their activities of daily living. Support can be planned for a number of weeks. Contact the Burnley General Hospital Coordinator on 01282 436414 or firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Royal Blackburn Hospital Coordinator on 01254 734526.
