Services in the Wyre area

Community Links
Our volunteers offer long term support to help older people aged 65 or over who are socially isolated to find support in their local community. We help them through home visiting, companionship, telephone befriending or providing activities in social groups.

Coping Alone
This service provides emotional and practical support to anyone who is 50+ who has ever been bereaved (regardless of time).  This service also offers bereavement support groups - these are social groups where people in a similar situation can get together over tea or coffee.  The service is individually tailored to provide the most suitable support for a person in their time of need.  Helping them to adjust to life after loss.

Day Care Services
We offer a service for older people who need support in order to remain living independently. Our services are based on individual needs and may be subject to an assessment by Lancashire County Council. Private fee places are available upon request.

End of Life Support
We can help terminally ill people and their families make positive, informed choices about end of life care.

Home Help Service
The Home Help Service is available to anyone who is aged 50 and over or living with a disability. Home Helps are able to carry out a variety of tasks dependent on yourneeds including general cleaning, laundry, shopping and local errands. The service offers flexibility and choice, high standards and is competitively priced.

Hospital Aftercare Service
Our team of staff offer practical support in the home following discharge from the Accident & Emergency Department or Clinical Decisions Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. People must be aged 65 or above and find it difficult to resume their activities of daily living. Support can be planned for a number of weeks. Telephone 01253 655282 or 0300 303 1234.

Information and Advice
Our staff have access to wide range of information on a variety of topics such as welfare benefits, community care, housing, consumer and health issues. Each office provides information booklets and access to Age UK factsheets as well as signposting enquirers to appropriate services for further assistance. We can provide additional support with form filling and casework.

Luncheon & Activity Clubs
There are a number of lunch and activity clubs across the Wyre area which provide a focus for older people to meet, enjoy a nutritional lunch and engage in a variety of activities. We currently run a luncheon club every Tuesday at the Free Methodist Church in Great Eccleston

Rural Outreach
Our team provide support in many areas of rural Wyre. We work to identify what is needed in local neighbourhoods and look at ways to meet those needs, as well as providing access to information and support. Our services include social groups in Knott End and Hambleton, walking groups, a men’s group and a carers group in Garstang.
