First Contact
Age UK Lincoln have formed a partnership with ten other agencies to make it easier for people aged 60 and over in Lincolnshire to receive free information and advice from comfort of their own home.
The aim of the scheme is to provide a single gateway signposting service through which older people can access services.
About the scheme
After answering 11 yes/no questions on a simple checklist, clients will receive information and advice from the partner agencies within 28 days.
The questions cover such topics as:
- Fire safety
- Housing
- Social care
- Benefits and entitlements
- Security
- Falls prevention
- Local transport
- Energy efficiency
- Support for carers
- Voluntary services information
- Health advice
The scheme has a holistic, preventative approach and aims to help people stay safe and independent in their own homes for as long as possible.
Field coordinators for the scheme are employed by Age UK.Their role is to raise awareness about the scheme within the community.They are available to deliver talks to local groups and organisations.
