Why volunteer?
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and support the work we do in the community. It can be a truly rewarding experience.
Who can volunteer?
Almost anyone can be a volunteer. We have a wide range volunteering opportunites, which suit different people with different skills. Please be advised that some roles require a DBS check and some carry a minimum age requirement of 18.
How much time do I need to give?
It depends on the volunteer role you are interested in. Volunteering for fundraising at local events could involve a few hours on an ad-hoc basis. Other roles require a regular commitment of at least one hour per week. See below for more details.

As an independent charity, we rely on the fantatstic efforts of our volunteers to raise funds, engage with the community and support the vital work that we do improving the well-being of older people in East Lindsey, West Lindsey and North Lincolnshire.

How can I get involved?

Befriending
Our volunteer Befrienders are invaluable in combatting loneliness and isolation. We're looking for people to offer at least one hour a week to chat over the phone, visit someone in their own home or possibly support access to social groups and activities (when guidelines permit).
Your support could make a huge difference to a lonely older person living in your area.
Location Making calls from your own home and/or visiting clients across our area. Time commitment Minimum of one hour per week -
Keep Connected
We will be taking our Mobile Outreach bus to various locations across our area and are looking for volunteers to help when the bus is in their community. This would involve welcoming people and talking about the services that the charity offers. We will also be providing digital support through this project and helping older people to become more confident in using digital devices such as phones or laptops. If you are familiar with accessing the internet and would like to support older people to do the same then you are the person we are looking for.
Location Various locations across East Lindsey, West Lindsey and North Lincolnshire Time commitment Varies, but expect a minimum of one hour

Digital Support Project
Our Digital Champions assist and support people by providing advice and answering queries about using digital devices. They help facilitate our tablet loan scheme and support with zoom meetings and use of our new befriending app.
Location Making calls from your own home and/or visits to clients Time commitment Minimum of one hour per week -
Fundraising & Events
Do you enjoy helping out in the community? This role involves helping on the day with events such as tombolas, fashion shows, stalls at fetes, coffee mornings and all other aspects of planning, organising and putting on an event.
You might also want to put on your own event to help raise vital funds for the charity.
Location Across East Lindsey, West Lindsey and North Lincolnshire Time commitment As and when events are happening in your area.

Charity Shops
Age UK Lindsey has eight shops across the region, all of which are vital in supporting the work of the charity. This busy role provides vital front-of-house and behind-the-scenes support to the staff. Tasks can include cashier work, merchandising and display, sorting donations, plus steaming and cleaning to ensure that the shop has a plentiful supply of good-quality items. No previous experience necessary.
Location Barton-upon-Humber, Brigg, Horncastle, Louth, Market Rasen, Spilsby or Tattershall Time commitment Minimum of one morning or afternoon/week - 9.30am to 1pm or 1pm to 4.30pm -
Information & Advice
As a member of the Information & Advice team you'll be supporting our I&A Officers by talking to clients, recording data, making appointments or supporting people who need help with filling in forms.
Full training specific to the role will be given but you will need to be highly orgainsed, possess excellent IT skills, be a good communicator and have a good eye for detail. Your support could ensure that an older person receives help when they need it most, and make a measurable difference to their welfare and wellbeing.
Location Working from home with monthly travel to our offices in Horncastle for team meetings. Some travel in your local area to visit clients, as needed. Time commitment 3-6 hours per week with flexibility around days.

Board of Trustees
We're always looking for individuals with an interest in older people to support our charity. You will contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation.
Location Currently home-based, with meetings held via Zoom. Time commitment Varies. The Board meets 6 times per year. Further commitment may be required, depending on your involvement in the charity. -
Charity Support Services
You will be helping the charity at our office in Horncastle, working as part of the team supporting service delivery. Tasks could include answering the phone, liaising with staff and volunteers, handling mail, printing and copying, or other admin duties.
Training will be given where required, but you will need to have experience of using Microsoft Office apps, sending emails and be confident on the telephone.
Location Horncastle Time commitment Minimum of 1 morning or afternoon per week
