The Which Way? service
The Which Way? service is run by Age UK Malvern & District with grants from various local sources to provide opportunities for friendship and social activities for elderly people in rural areas. It is particularly designed for those people who find it difficult to get out and reach the facilities of the local towns.
Mobile day centre
A mobile day centre visits a number of village halls throughout the district on a fortnightly basis. We collect members from the surrounding area in a minibus and bring them to the village hall in time for coffee at about 10.00am.
A wide variety of activities takes place at each venue with a strong emphasis on the wishes of members and volunteers. This means each day centre will have its own character. A cooked lunch will be provided and members will be returned home at about 3.00pm.
Foot care, hand care and hair care
Members are encouraged to make use of these facilities.
Who can come?
We want to provide this service for those who need it most, for example older people who are becoming isolated or immobile and those who for a variety of reasons may feel lonely or vulnerable.
If you yourself or someone you know might benefit from attending a mobile day centre please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page.
Referrals
Referrals also come from health visitors, GPs, social services, clergy or friends and relatives. You may also approach us yourself. Everyone who is referred to us will be visited by a member of the ‘Which Way?’ team in their own home before coming to the centre.
Volunteers
If you are still active but would like to be involved with this project you could become a volunteer. This could involve serving drinks or lunches, organising activities or helping with the running of the centre. This is a good way of being part of things.
