Home visiting and befriendingLet's have a chat

Home visiting or befriending is open to all older people. An Age UK Milton Keynes volunteer or a member of staff will visit your home on a regular basis for a friendly chat and to see that things are generally well with you.

Our staff and volunteers are able to help with form filling and can advise on many of the concerns that you may have.

Some of our Home Visitors run craft clubs or seated-exercise classes.

Get in touch if you, or someone you know, could benefit from a bit of company or the chance to have a chat on a regular basis.  This is a free scheme.

Relief care service

We'll look after your loved one

We offer a sitting service to people caring for a person aged 55 or over. It enables carers to have a much-needed break, knowing that their loved one is in safe hands.

We will carry out an initial assessment visit to see how we can help you, and find out what support you'd like.

  • The service currently costs £12 an hour
  • Sessions can be 9 - 5, evenings or weekends
  • We can arrange a regular weekly sitting, or a one-off ad hoc arrangement
  • We will visit for a minimum of an hour, but most people prefer two-hour sessions
  • We can sit with the person needing care or take them out for a walk or a visit
  • We can sit and chat to the carer as well, if they need a bit of support or want to find out about other sources of help

The service enables carers to:

  • Have the the freedom to go out without worrying, knowing that the person they care for is in safe hands
  • go out without having to rush back
  • experience a bit of "normality" and down-time.

The service also gives the person being cared for the chance to chat to someone new or to try out different activities.

Ring us on 01908 550700 to see if we can help.
