Our work

Man and woman laughing on sofa

Age NI might be a small team of people but together with our age sector partners and our sister charities in England, Scotland and Wales, we have achieved big things.

Last year alone, we positively impacted on the lives of 157,000 people across NI, by helping access winter fuel payments for 80,000 people through to helping older people claim over £1.8 million in entitlements and by delivering care services to over 2,000 people per week. That’s why the charity functions on many different levels and works with a wide range of partners, stakeholders and funders to help older people gain independence and become full and participating citizens in society.

Campaigning & Influencing Policy

Age NI educates, campaigns and lobbies the NI Assembly and local government authorities to ensure that older people’s issues are represented at the highest level. Our policy team is actively working with government to tackle the barriers of poverty, discrimination and to improve health & social care provision.

Age NI will fight ageism where we face it. We will demand the quality of care we all deserve. We will fight for enough money to live in dignity and we will push for better services where so many let us down. Where relevant, we work in partnership with Age UK, Age Scotland and Age Cymru on UK wide agendas to ensure a louder voice for older people in each of the four regions.
