Age NI staff

We help older people, their families and carers in many ways. Here are 10 incredible things you probably didn’t know about Age NI.

  1. Our residential, day and domiciliary care services are recognised as models of best practice for people with dementia. We influence the quality of care.
     
  2. Age affects people in Northern Ireland in many different ways.  We fund research to find out more.
     
  3. In Northern Ireland, 15,000 people benefit from our 24 hour personal Alarm system. We provide practical solutions.
     
  4. We are actively working with Government to tackle the barriers of poverty, discrimination and isolation and improve health and social care provision. We influence our politicians.
     
  5. In less than 20 years, more than a quarter of the population will be over 60.  Our communications team raises the profile of the implications of our ageing society.  We are a loud voice for age.
     
  6. Our care service teams support over 2,000 older people directly in their own homes each week. We give help where it is needed.
     
  7. Our Advice and Advocacy service receives thousands of calls every year and helps older people access unclaimed benefits. We tackle the barriers of poverty.
     
  8. Our First Connect service helps people live independently in their own homes by signposting them to community groups, agencies and counselling services to improve their quality of life.  We make positive connections.
     
  9. Our website www.ageni.org and social media sites www.facebook.com/agenicharity and twitter.com/age_ni enable us to support new audiences. We use new technology to extend our reach.
     
  10. Our engagement with over 200 community, voluntary and age sector groups, councils and health trusts helps improve services and increase opportunities. We build partnerships.
