Residential Care Worker - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract (to cover maternity leave)

Age NI is delighted to invite applications for the following 1 Year Fixed Term contract vacancy (to cover maternity leave) in Meadowbank Residential Care Home, Omagh. This exciting post provides an excellent opportunity for someone who possess the passion and commitment to work in a progressive organisation and help us achieve our vision – “thrive as we age.”

The main purpose of the role is to provide a flexible and individualistic personal care service to residents appropriate to their physical, emotional and social care needs on an as and when basis.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To carry out personal care tasks such as assisting residents with bathing, mobility needs, rising/retiring, toileting and feeding as determined by agreed individual care-plans
  • To assist residents where possible to sustain maximum independence by encouraging them to work with you in the carrying out of domestic tasks such as bed making, tidying of bedrooms and meal-time tasks
  • To administer medication to residents under the supervision of Management Staff
  • To work with residents on an individual or group basis encouraging their participation in social, therapeutic and stimulating activities such as reminiscence work, reading, outings
  • To maintain high standards of care in working with older people with dementia in order that they may achieve their optimum level of personal functioning
  • To assist with the formulation and review of care plans, maintain written records and other information as required
  • To undertake as required appropriate courses of training
  • To work flexible hours on a seven-day rota basis which may include night service.

Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

Proven paid experience of working with older people with dementia in a residential, community or hospital setting

NVQ II in Direct Care or equivalent [desirable]

Applicants will be subject to an enhanced Access NI disclosure www.nidirect.gov.uk/publications/accessni-code-practice

What Age NI can offer you:

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Hours:  40.5 hours (usually every other weekend off)

Week 1: Mon, Tues, Saturday and Sunday

Week 2: Monday (or Tues), Wed, Thur and Friday

Fixed Term Contract - 1 Year

Annual Leave: 21 days plus 12 Bank Holidays

Group Personal Pension (contributions on qualifying earnings: 5% employer and 3% employee)

Casual Sales Assistants, Newtownards 34-36 High Street, BT23 7HZ

Casual Sales Assistants, Bangor 14-16 Central Avenue, BT20 3AF

The main purpose of the casual sales role is to work under the supervision of the Shop Manager or Assistant Shop Manager in the fulfilment of tasks as required, the main responsibilities of this role are to:

  • To greet customers entering the shop and assist shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for 
  • Gift aid
  • To accept/sort/price/store and/or display merchandise/ donations 
  • Being responsible for processing payments 
  • To keep the store tidy and clean 
  • To open/close shop, as required 
  • To undertake appropriate training, as required 
  • To work flexible hours on a rota basis which will include Saturday as required 
  • Any other duties that may be required by the Shop Manager. 

Applicants must have:

  • Experience of cash handling
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

It is desirable that the post-holder has experience within the retail sector. 

What we can offer you:

Salary Scale £11.44 per hour

Hours: as and when required.  Our casual staff cover annual leave and other absence – no guaranteed hours every week

Shared Lives Carer

Shared Lives is based around carers sharing their home, family and community life with an older person who needs support. It helps older people to stay as independent as they can, for as long as possible.
