Poverty and Fuel Poverty are key areas of work for Age NI. It is unacceptable to us that despite efforts to improve conditions, poverty levels are still increasing amongst older people.

Pensioner poverty in Northern Ireland is on the rise. While UK wide figures have decreased in recent years, levels in Northern Ireland have increased. About one in five pensioners here are defined as living in income poverty, and a shocking official statistic shows 62% of older people are suffering from fuel poverty.
