Age NI makes sure older people aren’t forgotten or left to struggle on their own. We’re here to listen, support, advise and help people to feel independent and secure in their own homes.
We’ll be here to keep George company
George was devastated when his wife died after 65 years together. They didn’t have children and had no close family living nearby. His wife had been the ‘organiser’ and soon George was rarely leaving the house. By chance, he dropped into his local Age NI day centre. We arranged for George to be assessed and soon he was visiting the centre 3 days per week. He made new friends and found a new lease of life.
We’ll be here to give Helen advice
Helen ran out of oil just before winter. She was very worried and distressed because she couldn’t afford to fill the tank. Helen was able to get in touch with Age NI. We helped Helen access her Winter Fuel Payment so that she could arrange a delivery of oil. We also told Helen about other benefits she was entitled to and put her in touch with a local company offering home insulation grants.
We’ll be here when Carol needs support
Carol had lived alone for many years after her husband’s death. But a fall and bad arthritis meant she was finding it difficult to cope in her old farmhouse. We helped Carol look at all her options and supported her in finding sheltered accommodation. After she had settled in she told us, ‘I was dreading leaving home, but I love it here. I’ve made so many new friends, this is now home’.
We can be here for more people like George, Helen and Carol with your help.
