Older lady

'My life My Way' is a new project providing support to older people with dementia and their carers in the Belfast and Northern Trust areas.

The aim of this exciting new project is to promote the personal autonomy and decision making of hard to reach, older people with dementia who are isolated and at high risk of disempowerment.

Our volunteers offer signposting and provide relevant information about care options and entitlements which will allow the individual with dementia or their carer to make better informed decisions. It is hoped this will empower older people who have been diagnosed with dementia as they gain improved personal choice, control and Influence over decisions about their care as they recognise their dignity they deserve as they continue to live life their way less lonely.

Become a Information & Support Volunteer

We need more volunteers who will provide support to older people with dementia and their carers.

As a Information & Support Volunteer you will:

  • Learn new skills
  • Feel great about making a positive and life changing difference
  • Learn and share your knowledge about related services and activities in the local area and how to access them.

Age NI will provide you with on-going training and guidance, one-to-one support, out-of-pocket expenses and experience into the ageing and dementia process.
