Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce has nominated Age NI as its Charity of the Year 2013.

'The NI Chamber of Commerce see a synergy in our organisations both working across NI to improve services and relationships within our community,” stated Mark Nodder, President of NI Chamber of Commerce.

'Our event and networking strategy throughout the year will enable us to work together and help Age NI fundraise to support key services. Most importantly, the Age NI Appeal launched earlier this month.'

'Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce is supporting Age NI's Advice Line Appeal,' commented Siobhan Casey Marketing Director at Age NI, 'to help us provide more vital services for people in later life.

'Since April last year, our Advice Service received over 11,000 calls and helped to identify almost £1million of unclaimed benefits for older people.  This is an incredible amount of money that will help many people in their day to day lives as well as benefiting the local economy.

'However, our advice lines have reached critical point and demand for our advice service is huge. We are appealing for help so that we can answer more calls and ultimately help older people. You can find out all about the Age NI Advice Line Appeal at
