Age NI’s chief concern in this matter is older people. Their rights need to be protected.
Age NI has been calling for many years for social care reform in Northern Ireland. Older people deserve high quality social care that is based on the right to live with security, dignity and choice, no matter what their care needs are or where those needs are met. The onus is on the Trust to protect older people by communicating properly, preventing unnecessary stress, and listening to the individual needs and wishes of the people in their care.
Older people and their families have genuine concerns about where they may be moved to, and the impact of possible relocation on their health and wellbeing. What matters most is that the voice of older people and their families is heard.
Our vision is a world where everyone can love later life.
