To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, the Lyric Theatre and Cork Everyman present a sparkling new musical adaptation of this dearly loved novel.

Diana film posterThe Bennets have been blessed with five daughters and it is Mrs Bennet's mission to see them all married to eminently suitable suitors.

After all, “it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single gentleman in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife”. As luck would have it a wealthy young gentleman has just taken up residence in the neighbourhood...

In this deliciously fun and frothy romantic comedy, Jane Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and pokes gentle fun at the affectations and etiquette of provincial middle-class life.

Whilst remaining faithful to the novel, Mark Dougherty’s musical score and Robin Peoples’ gorgeous and elegant set and costumes will create a delightful new setting within which the romance between Elizabeth Bennet and the proud but dashing Mr Darcy can blossom – one of the most popular and enduring love stories of classic fiction.
