Celebration Donation
Many people now choose to support a charity instead of receiving gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings etc. Age UK Northumberland would love to help you celebrate the happy times in life. If you would like to set up a celebration donation just contact us and we can provide you with all the information you need.
Donations in memory of a loved one
You may wish to celebrate the life of a loved one by making a donation in their memory at the funeral instead of giving flowers. Your donation will be a lasting tribute to the person you have lost. If you would like to make this gesture instead of flowers please speak to the funeral director who can help with the appropriate arrangements.
Donation of shares
Making a gift of shares is one of the most tax efficient ways to give. You can claim tax relief equal to the market value of the share on the day you make the gift, together with any associated costs. The relief is against your income tax for the year. Additionally, you won’t have to pay any Capital Gains Tax on any increase in the value of the shares since you bought them. To find out more about this method of giving please contact an independent financial advisor.
Donations of land or property
Another tax-effective way to give is by donating land or buildings to charity, either in their entirety or a proportion of the holding. There may be generous Income and Capital Gains Tax relief available to you if you give in this way. To find out more about giving in this way you should contact an independent financial advisor.
Leave a legacy
By remembering us in your Will you can safeguard the future of our work with older people in Northumberland. The gift of a legacy can make a significant difference to our work and can make a lasting impact on your community.
It can be challenging to think about writing a Will and it is a difficult subject to talk about; but writing a Will at any age is important as it eases the strain on loved ones at what is already a difficult time and ensures that your estate, however large or small, is distributed in the way that you would like.
It is important to remember that if you wish to leave us a legacy, that you specify Age UK Northumberland in your Will to ensure the money is spent locally.
It is important to take proper advice on preparing a Will and our Information & Advice Line will be happy to guide you in the right direction – contact them on 08450 950150.
