Day Centre Organiser/Deputy

Hours: 28 hours per week

Salary: £15,189 per annum pro rata NJC points 12- 15 (£15,189 - £16,215 per annum FTE)

Location: Sybil Levin Centre, Nottingham

 

We require a Day Centre Organiser who is sensitive to the needs of older people and their carers, who can lead a small team of experienced staff and set high standards of care.

 

The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic approach and experience of providing care (including personal care) in a Day Centre environment or similar, to service users with mental health needs including dementia and memory loss. You may also be required to deputise for the Centre Manager.

 

Experience of working within a team and with older people is desirable. The successful candidate should have NVQ qualifications or equivalent.

Salary: £7,556 per annum NJC points 20-23 (£18,638 - £20,400 per annum FTE)

Location: Whitemoor, Nottingham

 

Men in Sheds is a project that engages with men in later life. The post holder will be employed by Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to co-ordinate the Men in Sheds project based in Whitemoor, Nottingham (NG8).

 

The purpose of the role is to bring older men together to undertake practical work, primarily woodworking and encourage them to be more socially active.

 

The successful candidate will have an understanding of issues affecting older men and be able to support existing and new members to achieve positive outcomes. The ability to promote and publicise the project, implement sales initiatives, and supervise and support volunteers is essential, together with excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.

 

It is imperative that the post holder is able to work sympathetically with older people from a variety of backgrounds and has the ability to empower older men to take an active part in running the project.

Age UK Notts new Home Support Service offers a range of practical services to support older people to maintain independence in their own home.

 

We are looking for reliable Home Helps to complete domestic tasks for older people in their own home, such as cleaning & shopping. All applicants need access to a car and be flexible with working hours and location.

 

Candidates should have the ability to use their initiative and work independently. You must have a friendly personality, good communication and organisation skills, and able to complete basic paperwork. Previous experience of working with older people and lone working is desirable, but not essential.

 

There is no personal care, evenings or weekend work involved. Mileage is paid.
