13 June 2017

Following Age UK Notts’ appeal for older models to be part of the Fashanne Awards 2017, two local older ladies, Gillian Cook and Margaret Howe, have been selected to take part in the catwalk of the high profile student fashion awards for the East Midlands.

Chief Executive of Age UK Notts, Mick Tinkler said, “We are celebrating our 75th birthday this year by having the beauty of older age showcased at Fashanne. This is a brilliant way of embracing the vitality and experience of the older generation in the student fashion show. Having the designs of the future brought to life by young and old alike is also showing fantastic intergenerational opportunities.”

The students’ chosen creations will be exhibited at St Mary’s Church, Nottingham, where a panel of celebrity judges including Gok Wan will view them. The Fashanne Awards 2017 will then follow on 22nd June in the evening with champagne and canapes, with the selected showpieces forming a fashion show in front of guests before the presentation of the awards.
