The Promoting Independent People Project aims to improve the quality of life for older people in Oldham by helping them identify ways to build their self-confidence, self-reliance and improve their wellbeing and independence.

Funded by Pennine Care, Age UK Oldham’s Promoting Independent People Team provides a service for older people who are feeling anxious about their health issues or long term health conditions.  They may have had a life changing event that has left them feeling lonely and isolated.
They will have been identified by the Care Professional as needing support to regain confidence and help them live the life they want to live by managing their condition, situation and reengaging back into their communities.
Here at Age UK Oldham we believe that any care and support should be people-centred to help maintain and improve quality of live. Our PIP Advisor will act as the key link, building up a relationship and listening to the older person’s needs and aspirations, so together they can draw up a tailored support plan to suit their lifestyle.  This can also help them to reconnect socially - exploring the wide range of groups and activities in their own community and supporting them to engage - and helping them to maintain their health and wellbeing and regain independence
