Dementia Adviser - Daytime Support

This is an exciting new opportunity within the Dementia Oxfordshire Service. We are seeking a Dementia Adviser-Daytime Support. The post holder will provide high quality training to providers (paid staff and key volunteers) of independent, community based daytime support (Day Centres, lunch clubs, community activities etc.) to ensure that they have an increased awareness of the needs of people living with dementia and their carers. This role will support the work of the Dementia Oxfordshire team, in ensuring that every person diagnosed with dementia that they work with and their family, will have the opportunity to live as well as possible for as long as possible in the community. 

You will develop a co-produced training offer to enable staff and volunteers in daytime support to meet the needs of people with dementia. You will achieve this by developing strong relationships with Independent Day Service providers, as well as with internal services, service users and carers.

You will also need to work closely with the Dementia Oxfordshire team so that providers can access assistance and information to manage specific difficulties. Part of the job role will involve facilitating groups for people with dementia and their carers.

You will need to have a sensitive and understanding approach to be able to meet the needs of staff and volunteers receiving training. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative developing high quality training. 

Please note use of a car is essential in this role.

Every person of whatever age diagnosed with dementia in the South West of the county, and his/her family, will have the opportunity to live as well as possible for as long as possible in the community.

You will work as part of a team with Dementia Advisers, Dedicated Support Workers and volunteers to meet the needs of people in the local area. This could include home visits, meeting people in memory clinics, as well as helping to facilitate support groups.

You will need to have a sensitive and understanding approach to the needs of people living with dementia. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative with strong case management skills. Please note use of a car is essential in this role.

Trainee Dementia Advisers

We are seeking two Trainee Dementia Advisers to join the Dementia Oxfordshire Service. These are exciting opportunities which include the duties of a Dedicated Support Worker.

 With support from a mentor, the post holders will be able to develop skills and gain experience of the Dementia Adviser job role. Community Exercise Programme Officer

Age UK Oxfordshire is focused on providing support, information and opportunities for older people in Oxfordshire to love later life. Our Generation Games team provide a wide variety of exercise, sport and physical activity options across the county, with a particular focus on long-term health conditions. Their aim is simply for people to lead more active lives and maintain their fitness into later life. 

The Community Exercise Programme Officer is a vital role working with the Generation Games team to support the supervision and administration of the Generation Games Programme.  The team work alongside Oxford Health and Oxford University Hospitals as well as local councils and leisure providers.  The team work particularly closely with physiotherapists, specialist nurses and occupational therapists. Important tasks linked to the role are to assist with the management of the community exercise programme, regularly visit classes, develop and implement the annual evaluation of programme, point of contact for exercise programme, teach exercise classes, assist with website and provide administration support. 

This role would be suitable for an enthusiastic exercise tutor with administration experience, who enjoys working with the community and making a difference.

 

Location: Abingdon
Hours: 35 hours per week (would consider part-time and job share)
Salary: £11.50 per hour
Contract: Fixed Term until 31st March 2018 (with view to extend)

Foot Care Assistant

Main Tasks include: 

Providing a basic nail cutting service to people over the age of 50 in different localities throughout Oxfordshire.  The service is part of our Home Support Options service which helps older people stay independent at home.  There is the opportunity for a duel role with both the footcare service and our home support service.

MAIN DUTIES:

To provide regular visits approximately every 8 weeks to clients in their own homes or in specified venues. 

To cut toenails and give a gentle foot rubs to people over the age of 50 – in a caring and efficient way (Training will be given).

Receive referrals, organise and carry out nail cutting sessions and home visits.

Collect and handle cash in accordance with cash handling guidelines and policy, keep clear records within line with data protection.  

Be responsible for planning and arranging home visits, receiving payments for nail cutting sessions and returning monthly payment returns ensuring the necessary fee is collected, recorded and banked weekly.

To ensure that clients are treated with sensitivity, respect and dignity.

Exercise tutor and training opportunity

Are you at least level 2 qualified fitness instructor, have experience and enjoy working with frailer older adults? Our Generation Games service is looking for exercise tutors to teach a variety of exercise sessions, including chair-based classes, in a community setting. 

Your classes will receive marketing and administrative support from the Generation Games team. You will also be invited to attend quarterly tutor training network meetings.

We are also able to offer additional Postural Stability Instructor and chair-based training courses to the right applicant e.g. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists or Level 3 Instructors (or those working towards these qualifications)
