^^ For gas customers on an Age UK tariff at 28 February each year, E.ON will automatically credit any payment due to the account annually in the Spring and customers will see the amount on their next bill. Customers with a prepayment meter will receive a cheque/voucher payment by post. E.ON calculate the amount of the cold weather payment by first working out the average cost of three hours use of a typical gas fire (3.9 kWh per hour) on the Age UK tariff. E.ON then multiply this amount by the number of days the temperature fell below 0 degrees centigrade at Pickering Weather station in North Yorkshire (one of the coldest places in the UK). If the result of this calculation exceeds the minimum cold weather payment E.ON will pay the difference to the customer in addition to the minimum cold weather payment. For customers aged between 60 and 79 the minimum cold weather payment is £10, for customers aged 80 and over the minimum cold weather payment is £20. Customers under 60 will only receive the minimum amount of £10. All figure quoted are ex VAT.

††† The £390 saving over a one year period is made up from increasing your loft insulation from 50mm (about 2 inches) to between 250 mm and 270 mm (about 10 - 11 inches) and installing cavity wall insulation. The cost saving is approximate, is provided for illustrative purposes only and is based on a 1940's gas heated semi -detached house with three bedrooms. Savings assume a gas price of 3.73p/kWh using a 10 year old gas boiler. Your individual saving will vary according to the type and age of your house, the type and age of your boiler, the fuels you use in your home and whether or not you choose to take increased warmth following the installation of insulation measures.
