Age Scotland makes a difference

Last year Age Scotland made a difference to older people in Scotland by:

  • Answering 24,567 helpline enquiries on topics from care homes to garden care
  • Awarding over £150,000 in grants to older people’s groups across Scotland, from providing £300 towards a Christmas party to £7430 towards the refurbishment of a kitchen
  • Enabling 295 older people to articulate their collective voice at Regional Assembly events in Falkirk, Peebles, Glasgow, Thurso, Inverness, Dingwall and Fyvie.  Their views inform development of Age Scotland policy and influencing work.
  • Giving one-to-one support to 578 local older people’s groups, from funding applications to help in organising events
  • Campaigning for change with and for older people, with wins including an end to jury service age limits and the withdrawal of an ageist city marketing promotion
  • Helping inform over 100,000 older people how to cope with winter weather with a free Hot Tips booklet
  • Keeping older people across Scotland informed by distributing more than 10,000 free copies of Advantage magazine
  • Handing out 2, 817 free Lifebooks which helped people better organise their personal affairs
  • Helpling 548 people to plan ahead and save money through writing their Funeral Plan
