Walking football is a variant of traditional football aimed at keeping people aged 50+ involved with the sport if, due to a lack of mobility or for other reason, they are not able to play the traditional game. The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors.
Although it might not sound too energetic, Walking Football is an action packed game of football – just with no running or slide tackles. If you run, you concede a free kick to the other side!
Walking Football is a great way to stay involved with the sport. Whether you’re looking to keep fit, be sociable or just want to score a couple of goals then walking football is exactly up your street.
Age Scotland work closely with The SPFL Trust, SAMH and Paths for All to develop the Scottish Walking Football Network and last year hosted the first Walking Football Festival in Scotland.
With clubs across Scotland, there’s sure to be a club near you.
