Tackling the causes of isolation

Not every older person is lonely, and for many, retirement allows more time to enjoy friendships and family life.  However isolation makes later life miserable for a significant minority and, with more of us expected to live longer alone in future, it's critical that its causes are tackled now.  These include: poor neighbourhood design, the effects of severe winter weather, and lack of access to suitable transport.

Join Age Scotland in campaigning to ensure that every older person in Scotland can have a fulfilling social life.

Campaign for better health and social care

Last year Age Scotland campaigned to end the artificial divide between health and social care services that, too often, fail to adequately meet their needs.  Now the Charity is working to ensure Scottish Government legislation to achieve this meets older people's needs in full.
