About Walk in our shoes, Act on our issues

We’re inviting older people’s groups – and other community and school groups - to map their local area, highlighting things that make it difficult for older people to get out and about and thereby increase isolation.  Groups can then invite councillors to follow map routes to see problems for themselves, and to pledge action to sort things out.

We’ll give you the ideas and materials to make a great looking, ‘easy to do’, map and to promote it locally. All you will need to add is local knowledge and lively discussion.  If your group includes older people, their personal experience will be all the expertise required.  If your group is made up of younger people, why not use this as opportunity to get to know older members of the community and to ask for their experiences of getting out and about.
