Have you considered volunteering to help Age UK South Lakeland?  Each year our volunteers help thousands of older people to retain their independence and exercise choice in their lives, whether this is through direct service delivery or through raising the funds necessary to pay for our services.  Each volunteer is like a vital cog in the machine, ensuring that the whole organization runs smoothly and that every activity from our Information and Advice Service to Retail to Day Clubs is equally valuable.

Gateway centre

Volunteers who help run the Gateway centre in Kendal.

Coffee Mornings and Events Volunteer

Work with us to provide a social activity for people living in your town or village in the South Lakeland area, which may or may not be a fundraising event.

Friends Exchange - Telephone friend

Volunteers who have an interest in, and an empathy with, older people. You will need a good telephone manner, good communication and listening skills. You will also need a non judgemental approach to older people and understand the need for confidentiality.
This role can be provided from our offices or from your own home. Full training provided.

Friends Exchange - Home Visitors

Volunteers who can provide companionship including: chatting, listening, reminiscing, making a cup of tea in the client's home and encouraging older people to join Age UK's activities in the local area. Full training provided.

Driver - Take Home and Settle

Our Take Home and Settle Project is looking for Volunteer drivers who are able to help transport older people from hospital to their home where they will be met by an Age UK carer.

Retail Sales

Volunteers in Kendal, Grange over Sands, Ulverston, Milnthorpe, Ambleside and Windermere.

Retail Sales Warehouse

Volunteers in the Kendal Furniture Outlet.

Van Crew Volunteers

Work as part of a team collecting donations from members of the public and delivering items which have been purchased in our shops.

The aim of the courses is to introduce older people to computer basics.

Helpline Admin Volunteer

The Helpline Admin Volunteer role involves working with our Helpline Agents to provide a responsive and rapid service in information and advice for people living in South Lakeland.
