Leaving a gift in your will is a way to ensure that we can continue to make life better for older people in Sutton. Without you, we may not always be there.

older couple at home

By leaving a gift in your will, you help Sutton's older people - both now and in the future - receive help, support and guidance to make later life a time of happiness and fulfillment.

Local people who have left us a legacy in their wills are remembered not only within our organisation, but for the way in which they have contributed to the future of others. Through their gift, their generosity lives on.

A gift in your will does not have to be large.

Even a £50 or £100 legacy is extremely beneficial and ensures we can keep making life better for older people.

The difference your gift makes

You do not have to be wealthy or leave a large gift to create a lasting impact on the lives of Sutton's older people.

Pledge your support

We understand that leaving a bequest to a charity is a personal and private matter, but it would help us greatly in our planning for the future if we had an indication of a proposed legacy.

If you let us know of your intention, not only can we guide you in the best wording to be used, but also can provide information on advice on estates and will planning, powers of attorney, being an executor and can refer you to a local solicitor if you wish.

If you choose to leave a gift to Age UK Sutton, the correct wording is important.

If you would like to support our work we recommend the following wording for inclusion in your will:

For a gift of a specific sum of money:

"I give the sum of  £   to Age UK Sutton, charity no. 1085875 of 1/2 Lower Square, Civic Centre, St Nicholas Way, Sutton SM1 1EA, for its general charitable purposes. I further declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."

For the gift of a residue:

You may like to leave to Age UK Sutton Borough the residue of your estate when all your specific bequests have been made (known as residuary bequest) and the wording would be as follows:

"I give the residue of my estate to Age UK Sutton, charity number 1085875 of 1/2 Lower Square, Civic Centre, Sutton SM1 1EA, for its general charitable purposes. I further declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."
