It's friendship, a good chat, a good laugh...

...and tea, biscuits and knitting of course! That's what the ladies of Purls of Wisdom have to say about being part of the group.

Since it began in late 2013, Purls of Wisdom has provided a welcoming and cheerful space for knitting enthusiasts to come together, chat, laugh (a lot of laughter) and, of course, knit!

"It's the nicest group. Everyone's so lovely and we do more than knitting. We organise outings together, and do different things."

Purls of Wisdom welcomes knitters of all abilities from beginners to experts. They especially enjoy knitting for other people. Thus far, they have made warm blankets for people to use in winter and tiny cardigans, booties and hats for the premature baby unit at St. Helier.

91 year old Eileen says of her involvement with the group:

" I don't often see people, so it's nice to come here once a week and see everyone and chat. You can't talk on your own, can you!"

It's true to say that Purls of Wisdom is more than just a knitting group. As Olive, one of its long standing members said:

"We put the world to rights here"

Wool you help Purls of Wisdom?

Purls of Wisdom love taking on charitable knitting projects. They've knitted and donated items to the Royal Marsden, made baby clothes for the Neonatal ward at St. Helier and 'Twiddlemuffs' as well. They also made a mountain of sweaters, blankets and coats for the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Help our Purls of Wisdom-ers keep on knitting (and purling). Donations of wool are always welcome!

You can post or drop off any donations of wool to:
