Opening Doors East London
50+ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans Social Network.
Older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people often fear identifying themselves, and accessing the support they might need. One reason is that they have spent a large part of their lives living in a homophobic society making them understandably wary and cautious. This means that the voice of the OLGBT community remains largely unheard.
The aim of the Opening Doors East London project is to:
- Combat isolation by providing regular social meetings and events - these include a monthly drop-in meeting and a Dinner Club
- Ensure the older LGBT voice is included in consultations on health and social care
- Support and encourage OLGBT leadership
Our drop-in meeting is the first Monday of every month 4pm – 6pm, The Dinner Club is on 2nd Friday of each month from 6.30pm.
