Whether you love your food, nature, history or beaches, the UK has an island that’s perfect for you.

The Isle of Skye - tasty food and drink

The Isle of Skye is a great destination for those seeking warm hospitality and tasty food and drink. This Scottish island has lots of tiny villages that boast excellent restaurants. The restaurants are headed by award-winning chefs, all using the best locally sourced ingredients. You can tour the Talisker Distillery to learn about the tradition of making whiskey. And of course, complete your visit with a wee dram! Skye also offers some great walks, with dramatic scenery created by the many bays and islands along  its rugged coastline.

The Island of Lundy - great for bird-watching

If you’d prefer a holiday that‘s centred around nature, then the island of Lundy is for you. Meaning ´puffin island´ in old Norse, Lundy is situated off the north Devon coast.  It is home to all sorts of amazing wildlife, including seals and basking sharks. In fact, the seas surrounding Lundy are England's only statutory Marine Nature Reserve. There are also, of course, plenty of puffins here, and the best time to see the birds is during May and June. And when you want a break from watching nature, Lundy offers lots of alternative activities, such as walking, climbing, or canoeing.

The Isle of Man - one for the history buffs

The Isle of Man is the perfect destination for the history buff. There are loads of old churches, castles, and forts to explore. You can visit remains dating as far back as the Bronze, Iron and Stone Ages. The Vikings’ presence can still be strongly felt at the Isle of Man’s parliament, Tynwald. It is in fact the oldest continuous parliament in the world.

The Scilly Isles - some of the quietest beaches in the UK

For beach lovers, the Scilly Isles are an ideal escape.  There are five beautiful islands to choose from. Each island is lined with fantastic beaches of white sand and surrounded by turquoise water. There are over 35 beaches on the islands, which are some of the quietest beaches in the UK. So the Scilly Isles really are the perfect place to relax and unwind, whether strolling along a secluded beach or sunbathing in peace.
