Ageing well
Ageing well is a project of Age UK Warwickshire. Ageing well’s aim is ‘adding years to life and life to years’ of the over 50’s. We aim to achieve this by encouraging and empowering people to make small but essential changes in their lifestyles, by giving advice, information and providing cost effective activities to enable them to make these changes.
Across the county we hold information stands and give talks to groups on healthy lifestyles, falls prevention, healthy eating and stop smoking information. In Nuneaton we also run a weight management support group as part of the healthy living network project.
We are also providing information on accessing other health and well being services by other organisations that we do not offer.
Falls advice & activity programme (F A A P)
This is a programme of themed talks, for example on diet, osteoporosis and managing your medicines, and gentle exercises designed to maintain and improve mobility.
The falls advice & activity programme
Aims to raise awareness of the key risk areas of falls and what steps can be taken to reduce the risk. The courses are ongoing and run for six weeks and can be joined at any time. Access is through referrals, for example GP or physiotherapist or we are able to carry out a referral on request. Centres where the falls advice & activity programmes are running countywide.
Active age
This programme runs a variety of physical activity and social groups at an affordable price in locations where there is a need and accessibility. These include active amblers our walking for health project, gentle movement to music, gentle circuit training, Tai Chi, line dancing and seated exercise and lunch and social clubs.
