Lunch and social clubs

Plate with cake on itThe rural outreach project is setting up clubs offering cultural and social opportunities for older people across South Warwickshire. Clubs will be developed in areas that have been identified as lacking in facilities for older people.

The project will build on existing networks and clubs and where appropriate aims to develop new groups in local venues with the support of volunteers and members.  The clubs will offer members the opportunity to meet friends and other older people doing activities in common.

The aim of the project is that older people, particularly those at risk of social exclusion, will be encouraged to support each other in developing clubs that meet the needs of their members.  Groups will also be encouraged to link into Stratford District Citizen Action Network and Warwick District Older People’s Forum enabling them to have their voice heard in planning and decision making processes.

Existing lunch clubs in Stratford, Wellesbourne and Bidford will continue to be supported as part of the project and are always in need of volunteer helpers.

Volunteers who are able to help with the running of clubs, give talks and demonstrations and are willing to share their skills are particularly welcome to become involved with this new and exciting venture.

The project works in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, Stratford and Warwick District Councils, South Warwickshire PIE SRB and the Opportunities for Volunteering Scheme who jointly fund this project.
