Age UK Wirral exists to promote the wellbeing of older people in the whole of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral helping to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
We believe that each person has a right to a life which maintains their personal independence, safeguards their privacy, offers genuine and informed choices, and provides opportunity for them to enjoy and contribute to the community as fully as possible, and meet their social, spiritual, cultural and individual needs.
Becoming Age UK Wirral
On Friday 20th May 2011 we became known as Age UK Wirral. By joining Age UK we began working with the largest and most influential organisation for older people. By working with them and with a network of local organisations across the UK, like our own, who share our ethos and purpose, we believe that we will strengthen our ability to serve older people in our own local area.
This did not mean that we became a ‘branch’ of a national organisation or that we gave up any autonomy. We remain an independent, local charity, responsible for raising our own funds and providing activities and services which best serve the local people. We are committed to maintaining our reputation for high standards and quality of service and look forward to continuing to serve the older people of Wirral with a genuine respect and understanding of their needs.
