Age UK partnered with John Lewis in the run-up to Christmas 2015 to produce this advert and help some of the million older people who go a month without speaking to anyone.
The Man on the Moon ad raised awareness of loneliness in older people and to ensure that every call we get to our free Advice Line can be answered 365 days a year.
For older people with nowhere else to turn, getting in touch with Age UK’s friendly and helpful advisers could open the door to many opportunities for companionship, advice and support.
Our befriending service, Call in Time, can be a next step for an older person who calls the Advice Line. We match older people with like-minded volunteers for weekly companionship or regular ‘good day’ calls.
To an older person who hasn’t spoken to anyone in weeks, it really can make all the difference.
