Housing options

Many of us find that as we get older we start to think more about where we live. Whether it's moving in with family, renting, or sheltered housing, there are lots of different options.

There are a number of topics within our housing options section, which can be accessed below. We also have a useful information guide:

Moving in with family

This can seem ideal if you need support, want to spend more time with your grandchildren, or need to downsize.

Moving abroad or returning to the UK to live

Retiring to another country is a big decision, so do as much research as possible before leaving the UK. Alternatively, you may already have been living overseas, but have decided to move back to the UK. In the time you’ve been away there may be changes in the UK you need to prepare for.

I want to move to where I can get more support

Sheltered housing

If you want to live independently but somewhere easier to manage, sheltered, or retirement housing could appeal to you.

Care homes

If you need more personal care than sheltered housing can give you, moving to a care home could be an option.
