Are you seeking an opportunity to use your accountancy skills and knowledge to help others and gain new experiences? Age UK Barnet is looking for a treasurer with these skills

Age UK Barnet is a local independent charity with over 60 years’ experience of providing much needed services to older people across the London borough of Barnet.

We have adapted and survived through challenging times and through the current pandemic, ensuring that the people we work with continue to be supported using new and innovative ways to offer services. Our new projects include:

· Active and Connected – bringing people together for exercise, IT support and in online sessions

· Dementia Befriending

· Pigeon Post – a hard copy magazine for the digitally excluded.

Age UK Barnet also delivers services under contract to the London Borough of Barnet:

· Neighbourhood Services – Later Life Planning, Falls Prevention, Wellbeing and Home Support services including Handyperson.

· Dementia Support Services – Dementia Adviser Services, Day Opportunities and a Resource Hub.

A vacancy will shortly arise on our Board of Trustees for a Treasurer. To support a smooth and effective handover we are looking to appoint a new Trustee who can work alongside our current Treasurer for a period before their time on the Board comes to an end. Our Board of Trustees meets 6-8 times a year to agree the strategic direction of the charity and monitor delivery by the staff team of agreed plans.

The Treasurer has a particular focus on our financial performance and scrutiny and chairs our Finance Committee which meets monthly. The position is voluntary for a period of three years, renewable for a further term.

We are specifically looking for a qualified accountant and preferably an individual with experience of charity finance. We welcome applications from all sections of the community to help us achieve a diverse trustee board that reflects our clients and communities.

We also welcome applications from experienced charity trustees and from those for which this would be a first trustee appointment. If you are interested in this exciting role, please contact Helen Newman our Chief Executive in the first instance.

Video interviews with our Chair and members of our Finance Committee will be arranged at mutually convenient times.
