August 6: Bath Preservation Trust Talk about Beckford Tower


Hear about William Beckford’s extraordinary life and his unique Tower in Bath. He was once the richest man in England but lost his fortune and almost his reputation too. Learn about his writing, collections of beautiful art and objects and his madcap buildings - one of which quickly collapsed!

Sept 3: Talk by Val Peters on Scams and Security

Val Peters, an Age UK IT Support Volunteer, will explain how you can protect yourself against scams – by telephone, through the post and at the door. She will guide and help you to take easy steps to increase your security and feel in control of the situation.

Oct 1: Talk by Barry Gilbertson,Chairman of the World Heritage Site Advisory Board for Bath

In this talk, Barry will discuss the origin of World Heritage, how Bath’s Inscription on the world list in 1987 makes it one of only two cities in Europe with a citywide World Heritage Site (WHS) designation, explain the six aspects of Outstanding Universal Value attributed to the City of Bath in the UNESCO Inscription, and why the Inscription is so valuable to Bath’s future and to the local economy.

Nov 5: Talk by Adrian Wyatt

Over the past 14 years, Adrian has travelled to over 20 countries including Kenya, where he set up 2 schools and has even been formally adopted as a Masai! He will talk about his travels, along with showing photographs of the wildlife he has encountered.
