Dementia Friendly Cinema Screening

Published on 19 March 2019 03:21 PM

Blackburn with Darwen Dementia Action Alliance are hosting a free cinema screening of the 1950’s film Calamity Jane. The film will take place at Thwaites Empire Theatre on Wednesday 10th April from 2pm. Entry is free but by ticket only.

The film screening will be relaxed with an interval in the middle and is particularly suitable for anyone aged 50 or over who is living with dementia to attend along with a carer if needed.

Vicky Shepherd, Chief Executive of Age UK Blackburn with Darwen said ‘It can be more difficult if you are living with dementia to take part in social activities. We hope that these relaxed screenings will encourage people to come out and enjoy the cinema experience. A very warm welcome awaits.’

Tickets are available from:

  • Age UK Blackburn with Darwen, 4 King Street, Blackburn BB2 2DH
  • Care Network Hub, 9 Town Hall Street, BB2 1AG
  • Thwaites theatre box office Monday to Saturday 10am to 12.30pm
