A note to our volunteers from our Chief Executive Suzanne Hilton

Here at Age UK Bolton, we have really missed seeing so many of you for so long. Volunteers week is an opportunity to celebrate the difference each of you make, individually and collectively, to the lives of older people in Bolton.  Each of you, our volunteers, are without doubt the life and soul of our charity.

We have been here right through the pandemic, supporting older people when they needed us most with emergency shopping, regular welfare calls, befriending chats over the ‘phone and helping to pass on digital skills to others so they can stay connected to friends and family, and access the services they need online. Each of these services would not have been possible without your help, volunteering your time to enable us to continue supporting people throughout this tough time. I would like to thank everyone who has adapted and been so flexible in helping out during this crisis and everyone who has committed so much time and care over the years.

With the rollout of the vaccine, the reopening of retail and hospitality there is now a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Indeed, we have started to see the return of our face to face Information & Advice sessions and strength and balance classes including a lovely new venue at Smithills Hall. Very shortly we hope to open more  services and activities and welcome you all back, to bring some light back into the lives of older people in your special way once more. We have been working really hard in the interim to make all our services and environments COVID-safe and have invested in lots of new things to make everyone fell secure and welcome.
