What do Wellbeing & Engagement volunteers do?

The aim of the Wellbeing & Engagement team is to support groups and individuals by building or strengthening relationships in the community where people live through person centred approaches, this means that our volunteer roles in this team are diverse and varied.

Whatever your skills or interests we want to support you to enable you to support older people within their own communities.

Community Support

Whether you want to provide support on a one to one or group basis there are lots of opportunities for you to use your skills. You could do this by supporting an established group or day service, developing a new service or supporting an individual to leave their home and access services, activities or facilities in their community. For example, going to a cafe or shopping with an older person who may not feel they are able to go out without support.

1:1 Support

Are you willing to support people in their own home, providing friendship and support, enjoying activities together such as shopping, trips out or helping someone to learn a new skill, e.g. Digital/IT support? Age UK Bradford District buddies support older people to re-build and develop confidence, share interests and engage with activities and the wider community.
