CAF on BBC Radio Bristol

Last week the Celebrating Age Festival (CAF) team were asked to appear on BBC Radio Bristol to chat about what visitors could expect from the day. CAF Project Coordinator Ian Hudson was joined by Bristol Ageing Better Programme Manager Carly Urbanski, where they talked first about the fabulous 50+ fashion show.

The festival is currently looking for volunteer models to take part in the show and strut their stuff on the catwalk.

Ian said: “The theme of the fashion show is celebrating diversity, so absolutely everyone is welcome to come. Models of all ethnicities, identities, sizes and shapes are welcome to come along.

“If people want to bring along grandchildren to go down the catwalk with them, that would be absolutely brilliant.”

The fashion show is just one of the brilliant events taking place as part of the festival, which launches on September 23rd at City Hall between 10.30am and 4pm. It’s free to attend and there’s plenty going on throughout the day.

Inside, professionals from more than 60 different organisations will have stalls where they can offer advice and information, health checks and even massages.

Taster sessions of crochet and pottery will be interspersed with dance performances, cooking demonstrations and a prize-giving ceremony for the Older Achiever awards.

Outside the venue on College Green, Active Ageing Bristol will also be running tasters for a variety of sports and activities suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

If you can’t make it on the day, there are also a series of activities and events taking place in the run-up to the festival. The Bristol Ageing Better Age Friendly Community Chest offered small pots of funding to support age friendly initiatives and events during August and September, including film screenings, community picnics and more.
