Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest is pleased to announce the launch of its new Outreach service in Redditch. From Thursday 5th July 2018, members of the charity’s Information & Advice Team will be operating an appointment-based service from Redditch Library every Thursday from 9.30am – 2.30pm as part of its support for the Redditch community.
Age UK BRWF’s free Information & Advice service is available to anyone over 50 and anyone supporting someone over 50 (carers, family etc.) across North Worcestershire. Last year the service successfully completed over £1m in benefit checks putting more money into local people’s pockets.
Announcing the launch of the service, Sam Humphray, Interim CEO of Age UK BRWF said,“I am really pleased to be launching this Outreach service in Redditch Library and I hope that it re-affirms our commitment to the Redditch community. The Library is a central and accessible venue and is already a place where people frequently go to access information, so it feels an ideal location to be launching our Outreach service.”
This new Outreach service is part of the charity’s plans to deliver a more flexible and sustainable Information & Advice service. Earlier this year the organisation announced that it was changing its delivery model, with an increased focus upon ‘home visits’ to help make the service more accessible.
Sam added “Demand for information and advice is increasing, but we are already starting to see the impact of offering a more flexible, person-centred service and are reaching people that have previously had difficulty accessing our services. It is about providing people with the opportunity to access information and advice in a way that is most appropriate and comfortable for them and the launch of the Outreach service now provides the Redditch community with that additional choice.”
