Wyre Forest Listening Events

Published on 27 July 2018 05:25 PM

Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest is encouraging members of the local community share its views about growing older in Wyre Forest. In partnership with Wyre Forest District Council and other local organisations, Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch & Wyre Forest are planning a series of drop-in ‘Listening & Information Events’ across Wyre Forest over the coming weeks.

The first of the sessions are being held on:

  • Tuesday 31st July 2018 at Stourport Library (10am - 12pm)
  • Monday 6th August at Bewdley Library (10am - 12pm)

A representative from Thursfields Solicitors Wills & Estates team will also be supporting the Stourport event.

Based upon the latest figures it is estimated that there are approximately 118,000 people who are aged 50 and above living in North Worcestershire. 24.2% of the Wyre Forest population (which is over 24,175 people) are aged 65 and over hence older people are a significant part of the Wyre Forest community.

Jo Hughes from Age UK BRWF said “As an organisation we have been through a period of change but we are very much still here to provide valuable, local support and services for people aged 50+ living in Wyre Forest. Older people play such a significant role in our communities, but we need to ensure that age is not a barrier to ‘living well’ within our communities. Starting with the Listening Events, we are looking at how we can improve our engagement with the Wyre Forest community so that we can better understand the priorities of local people, to better shape the support and services that we provide, and to share this information with Wyre Forest’s Health & Wellbeing Board. We would like to encourage people to come along and talk to us, and share their views, so that we can help create communities in which we all want to grow older”
