Our open day at the Jubilee Centre will take place on Saturday 14th September from 11.00 a.m. This year, it is going to be bigger and better than ever before.
At 11 am, there will be our first sponsored walk to raise funds for our new befriending service for older people living in Bury. We are inviting people of all ages to join in and everyone will be able to choose the distance they want to walk. The walk will be around the Lido, which is equivalent to one third of a mile so people may choose the number of times they wish to walk around it. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress, best dressed dog, best decorated mobility aid (wheelchair, walking frame or mobility scooter) and best zombie! Sponsorship forms are now available for free from the reception at the Jubilee Centre.
The Jubilee Centre will be open from 11.30 and we will be promoting our activities. It will start with Gentle Exercise with Naomi at 11.45 followed by displays of Fit for Life, Tai Chi, Belly Dancing and Folk Dancing. At 2.30, Nadine and Keith will be holding an introduction to Sequence Dancing. This is open to all dancers, beginners and experts alike.
There will be a marquee next to the Jubilee Centre with a cake stall, tombola, Slimming World, Bury Lions, art with Wendie, and music. A coffee van will be selling posh coffees and there will be activities for children. The Bury Model Boat club will be exhibiting their boats by the Lido and we will decorate the Jubilee with beautifully knitted bunting, donated by our Knit and Natter group. And our lovely
Chatterbox Café will be serving delicious food throughout the day.
