Reducing social isolation and loneliness is a common thread throughout Age UK Camden’s (AUC) work. Key achievements this year include:

  • Winning a tender in partnership with Camden Carers to deliver the Care Navigation service in GP surgeries across the borough. This service supports older people to access the most suitable support for their needs and helps them get to essential hospital appointments.
  • The launch of Ageing Better in Camden (ABC) in July 2015. ABC is a partnership (AUC is the lead partner) of older people and Camden organisations working together to tackle social isolation and loneliness among older people.
  • Henderson Court Resource Centre celebrated 50 years of supporting older people to live independent and enjoyable lives.
  • Opening Doors London, which supports older LGBT people across London, became a subsidiary charity of AUC.

Age UK Camden is a local, independent charity that provides a holistic range of services, including information and advicebefriendingcounselling and digital inclusion that support older people to live independent, enjoyable and fulfilling lives. Future plans for the organisation include expanding its resource centres (Henderson Court and Great Croft) to improve the facilities and user experience as well as launching a dementia wellbeing service to further improve the charity’s leading dementia offer.
