It's not long until race day, so here's a little bit more about our runners and some of this might suprise you...

Name: Gareth

Lives: Colchester

Have you run in anything before?:  I didn't start running until I was in my 40s but have managed to get some of the bigger races under my belt - New York, London and Philadelphia marathons, Great North Run and have done the Royal Parks a few times.

Why are you fundraising for Age UK Camden?: My mother is in her eighties and suffering from vascular dementia so I know first-hand many of the issues and difficulties encountered by the elderly.  She is fortunate to have a strong support group in her family and friends but many people in her situation are not so lucky.  Age UK Camden needs our support to continue to provide vital services that have a direct impact on their quality of life.

Best thing about running?: The sense of achievement and a great community - runners are supportive, encouraging and non-judgmental.  You are welcome to join whether your 10k time is 40 mins or 2 hours.

Name - Bella

Lives - Clerkenwell, Grayson Perry is my neighbour!

Have you run in anything before?: No, and I’m terrified.

Why are you fundraising for Age UK Camden?: I think it's really important we look after the people that looked after us.

Best thing about running?: I prefer running outside to being stuck in a gym, it is more interesting to see new places that you may not have noticed before. Although my favourite part about running is relaxing when it’s over.

Fun fact – When I was at school I was a junior chess champion!

Name – Gracie

Lives - Half in Dubai half in Fulham

Have you run in anything before?: Not for a long time! Although I ran the London marathon with SJ back in 2010.

Why are you fundraising for Age UK Camden?: I’m very close to my grandmother – everyone loves their granny don’t they? My friend started working at AUC and suggested the charity. Also because older people are often overlooked.

Best thing about running?: Sometimes I feel like I don’t like running anymore! But it’s the best way to stay fit and live longer.

Fun fact – Once I went to a fancy dress party as Dobby the house elf from Harry Potter.

Name – SJ

Lives - West Hampstead

Have you run in anything before?: I’ve run in London and Paris marathons, although I’m feeling rusty.

Why are you fundraising for Age UK Camden?: I started volunteering for Age UK Camden at the start of the year – they do so much to battle isolation and loneliness in older people. I’m hoping to raise lots of money through sponsorship to help Age Uk Camden provide their services.

Best thing about running?: I like the freedom running gives me and it’s often quicker than public transport. I also enjoy the headspace; sometimes I will put on some music and concentrate on nothing else but putting one foot in front of the other ….and traffic!

Fun fact – I’ve had loads of unusual jobs; for instance I’m a qualified croupier and I used to work in Cannes for the Royal Family of Kuwait.
