Advocacy seeks to ensure that people, particularly the most vulnerable in society, are able to defend their rights and upholds the belief of equal opportunities. Our Advocacy services are free, confidential and independent.
What is Advocacy?
Advocacy works around the belief that equal opportunities should exist for everyone. Advocacy seeks to ensure that people, particularly the most vulnerable in society are able to :
• Express their views and concerns
• Access information and services
• Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities
• Express options and choices
It can be helpful to think of an advocate as an unconditional ally for a vulnerable individual. They may be the only person in that individual’s life who is on their side.
The Cheshire Advocacy Hub provides advocacy for people qualifying for the following advocacy support:
• Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS)
• Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA)
• Care Act Advocacy
• Continuing Healthcare (CHC) Advocacy
