Queen Fundraiser proves a huge hit!

Published on 13 November 2018 02:39 PM

In aid of Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th October and during the opening weekend of the new blockbuster Bohemian Rhapsody, Regal Cinema in Redruth held a gala and special charity screening of the film. This was followed by a live set from The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys celebrating the music of Queen.

Age UK Cornwall would like to say a huge thank you to all of the team, our wonderful Volunteers who supported the event and most importantly the individuals who purchased tickets for the Charity gala. Together, we raised an impressive £1352.00 from ticket sales, with the gala part of the event selling out in just over a week, our Volunteers raised a further £202.00 by running a raffle across both evenings, meaning a total of £1554.00.

We would also like to say a special thank you to the staff and organisers at Regal Cinema, Redruth. You were always willing to go the extra mile, provided advice when we needed it and put on an event that we are all extremely proud of. This donation really means the world to us and will help many individuals across Cornwall live well in later life.

This fantastic fundraising total will go directly towards funding our vital gateway services, such as Information & Advice, Befriending and Community Helpline that we provide within Cornwall, ultimately increasing support to individuals, families and carers that really need it.

Would you like to get involved?

We always need help to raise funds for some of the most vulnerable and socially isolated in society. You can easily get involved with Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to do this; this could be by attending or supporting an event like the Royal Cornwall Show or one of our Day Care fetes, or simply helping us raise funds by donating raffle prizes, resources or equipment.

You could also hold an event in the community and choose us as your sponsored charity, we would be more than happy to send a speaker or a volunteer/s along to help with the day/s. Contact lee@ageukcornwall.org.uk or visit our GET INVOLVED webpage for more information.
