Spreading a little Christmas cheer

Earlier this month Age UK County Durham received 45 Christmas hampers very kindly donated from Feeding Families. The hampers each contained a variety of non-perishable food donated from volunteers across the County.

Lyn and Gordon, staff from our Information & Advice Team, set out in our van on Thursday and Friday this week, to deliver the hampers to some of our more vulnerable clients.  We also added a lovely warm fleece blanket from us and a copy of our recent newsletter.

This has been a difficult year for everyone, but some of our clients have had very little or no contact with other people since March this year.  The hampers were very gratefully received.

Mrs G told us,

‘this is the only gift I will receive this year as my daughter sadly passed away. I cannot thank you enough’

An emotional Mrs Divine from Consett said,

‘I’ll never forget the help you gave me, and knowing you are there for us older folk when needed is a godsend, thank you’
