It’s a cause for celebration that more people than ever are surviving after a cancer diagnosis but we know the impact of cancer doesn’t suddenly stop during treatment and when treatment is over.

Age UK County Durham are recruiting volunteers to support our Living With and Beyond Cancer Programme in County Durham to support people to live well with a cancer diagnosis.

Our volunteers will help those with a cancer diagnosis to:

  • Make improved lifestyle choices and access social support
  • Access help with dealing with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis
  • Receive financial advice
  • Access to activities to improve their physical health

As a volunteer you will need good listening skills and a sensitive and caring approach. You will be supporting patients in hospital, community settings or in the home by offering tailored support to encourage them to address and where possible self-manage their recovery.
